30 years ago, Rosco developed their Academy Award-winning water-based fog fluid. Until that point, fog fluids had been petroleum based — potentially hazardous, and often leaving an unpleasant oily residue on people or equipment. Rosco's water-based formula made all that a thing of the past, becoming the most widely used fog fluid in theatre, live entertainment, theme parks, and clubs.
Anyone with an unlimited budget can develop a long-life, high-quality fog machine; it took Rosco's expertise to build one that was affordable and energy-efficient, too. The Rosco 1700 gives you a powerful initial blast of thick fog and ramps back to continuous fogging at whatever volume you need without interruption for reheating.
The Rosco Model 1700 delivers output equal to or better than previous models, but draws less power — 1190 watts — to decrease operating costs. It has been re-engineered to use fewer parts, meaning it is easier to maintain and is more reliable in general. It's perfect for theater or rental applications.
Multiple Model 1700s can be daisy-chained, allowing up to four machines to be run from a single remote control. The included remote control has a 15-foot cable, stores on board, manages volume and timing, and can be extended with 50' and 100' cables. The optional DMX interface allows for connection to your lighting control board.
The fog outlet cowling uses the standard Rosco hose adapter and ducting hose system. Furthermore, it's compatible with the entire range of Rosco fog fluids, accepting four liter bottles. And if you've invested in other Rosco fog products, you'll be glad to know that the Rosco Chiller Module and Rosco Coldflow match perfectly.
In applications where you don't need to control the volume of fog, the Alpha 900 is an excellent choice. A simple on-off switch on the included 30' remote control starts and stops a remarkably powerful stream of smoke thanks to its 1000 watt heater. Weighing only 11 pounds, the Alpha 900 is highly portable and compact, and accepts the full range of Rosco fog fluids.
This Rosco fog machine has been tested for use in professional theatrical productions and are included under the Equipment-Based Guidelines of the Equity-League Pension and Health Trust Funds.
